Board of Directors

The YFC Southern Hills Board of Directors is made up of caring adults from the communities we serve. The board provides direction, oversight, and vision for the Executive Director. The team meets eight times a year for the purpose of strategic planning, financial planning and stewardship, and prayer.

  • Tyce Carmichael, Board Treasurer, Director of Development and TechnologyWeddle Brothers Construction, Bloomington, IN

My life with Youth for Christ started as a student while in high school. After I graduated college I volunteered with some local junior high YFC club activities and then later joined the Board. I saw at a young age how YFC was able to reach kids who otherwise would not be engaged and give them a place to find hope and love. It is a great privilege to see first hand the amazing things God is doing through SHYFC.

In my free time you can find me spending time with my wife and kids, cheering on the Indiana Hoosiers, playing golf, beating all comers at Euchre, and playing bass in the church worship band.

  • Vadim Morozov, Committee Chair for Board Development, Hilliard Lyons, Bloomington, IN

I am honored and extremely humbled to be invited to serve on the board of YFC.  I truly believe it takes time, effort, persistence, one-on-one interactions, discipleship, vulnerability, honesty, trust and genuine love, to reach the next generation of young people.  It is our responsibility to present the Gospel of Christ, the Love story, in the most pure and easy to understand form.  I am praying that God uses YFC leaders, staff and volunteers for His glory and to further His Kingdom.

I have been married to my spouse Hilarie for 18 years and we have been blessed with four children.  We love hiking, biking, fishing and jogging together.  We get our hands dirty on a hobby farm we own, where we raise chickens, sheep and cows.

  • Grant WatsonCentury 21, Columbus, IN

Several years ago, I was asked to serve on the Cast Community team of YFC in Columbus. Hearing the stories from the leaders and the young kids and how their lives were being changed was totally un forgettable moment for me and inspired me to do all I can to support this mission. A few years later, I was asked to serve on the Southern Hills YFC Board. I feel it is honor and a privilege to be here.

  • Jamie Gathing, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN

If you happen to see her in passing, don't be surprised if Jamie speaks to you and attempts to make you laugh or smile. She loves people, has never met a stranger, and has a passion for reaching young people.

Jamie works at the Kelley School of Business in the Diversity Initiatives office.   She is a devoted advocate for her students on all accords and enjoys being able to assist her amazing co-workers in the areas of advising, recruiting, and programming.

"I am excited and thrilled to join the YFC Southern Hills team! God is doing some amazing things as it relates to the hearts of His younger children. I'm glad to be a part of the vision and look forward to working with this amazing team to execute God's plan!"

  • Derek BaileyBoard Vice Chair, Precision Eye Care, Bloomington, IN

I was born and raised here in Bloomington and played basketball and baseball at Bloomington South High School as well as was active in Campus Life/YFC as a student. After going to Wabash College, I returned to Bloomington to go to optometry school at Indiana University. I am now an optometrist at Precision Eye Group. My wife, Erika, and I have two children, Lola and Korver. I am a member at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church and serve as a Levite.

  • Joe Stanton, Board Chair, Thornburg Insurance Agency, Bloomington, IN

I recently accepted the position of Chair for Youth For Christ Southern Hills because I strongly believe in this ministry. Sharing the story of Jesus with 11-19 year olds in our area is of absolute importance, and YFC does this by presenting the gospel, caring for them, loving them and feeding them with his word.
